In Carbondale, there will be display booths, entertainment, and plenty of food. To return to Scranton, passengers may board the train at 2:15 p.m. The train will depart from Carbondale at 2:30 p.m., and arrive back at Steamtown National Historic Site at 4 p.m.
To accommodate passengers from the Mid- and Upper Valley, a shuttle bus will be available from Carbondale to Scranton. The bus will depart promptly at 9 a.m. from the Carbondale Train Station on River Street in Carbondale, and will arrive at Steamtown National Historic Site in time for passengers to board the Heritage Explorer Train. There is no charge for this shuttle service, but passengers must reserve their seats on the bus when they obtain train ticket. Bus seating is limited and offered on a first come, first-served basis.
The Heritage Explorer Train is free for children age 12 and under. Children under age 16 must be accompanied by an adult. Tickets are $5 for adults, and $4 for senior citizens (age 65 and older). All passengers, including children, must have a ticket to ride the train. It’s best to act quickly as seating is limited.
