LHV Hosts Eco-Friendly Scarecrow Making Party as part of Bonfire Week

eco-friendly-scarecrowsLackawanna Heritage Valley National and State Heritage Area (LHV) will  host an Eco-Friendly Scarecrow Making Party on Saturday, October 8, from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Nay Aug Avenue Natural Play Area in Scranton. This family-friendly event is part of Bonfire Week in the Electric City, which runs October 7 through 15.
LHV will supply frames for the “bodies” of the scarecrows and stuffing (while quantities last), and children should bring old clothes including button down shirts, hats, scarves, gloves to dress up their scarecrows. This event provides parents with teachable moments about recycling, and it can serve as a great example of how nature can ignite a creative spark in people of all ages.
Not to be confused with Nay Aug Park in East Scranton, the Nay Aug Avenue Natural Play Area is located in the Green Ridge section of Scranton, near the Green Ridge Shopping Center. For directions, click here. For more information, call 570.963.6730, ext. 8200.
