Families are invited to celebrate the region’s heritage and the natural beauty of the great outdoors as Lackawanna Heritage Valley (LHV) hosts a Fall Family Fun Day on the Lackawanna River Heritage Trail (LRHT) on Sunday, November 4, from 1-3 pm.
The event will be held on the Spur trail, across from Scranton High School. To access this trail, please park at the Olive Street Trailhead, and follow the signs to the event. In addition to spectacular fall foliage, this section of trail features “Confluence” which is made of ten iron sculptures. Families may enjoy a leisurely walk along the trail or participate in other activities and entertainment, including:
• S’mores and hot chocolate by the campfire;
• Music by Pat Quinn and the Heritage Trailblazers, featuring acoustic favorites such as the Eagles, Beatles, America, Country/Bluegrass, and hits from the ‘50s;
• Spooky Stories and Crafts with Taylor Community Library;
• Creating Fall Crafts
• Children must be accompanied by an adult. There is no charge for admission, but donations to Lackawanna Heritage Valley (LHV) will gladly be accepted.

The Sixth Annual Scranton Half Marathon will take place on Sunday, April 7th, 2019, beginning and ending at Valor Credit Union Field at Memorial Stadium. The goal of the race is to provide a superior event highlighting the local area and in doing so, bring increased exposure and revenue for local businesses. The Scranton Half Marathon is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. Proceeds from the 2019 event will benefit the continued development of the Lackawanna River Heritage Trail.
