Depart SNHS at 10 a.m.,  Arrive in Archbald at 11:40 a.m.

Depart Archbald 2 p.m.,  Arrive at SNHS at 3:30 p.m.

Your D&H Penn Division ticket includes:

  • Admission to Steamtown National Historic Site’s grounds and museums, opening at 9:00 a.m.
  • Learn about the history of the Coal Patch Towns from Scranton to Archbald.
  • Explore the remnants of the Gravity Slope in Archbald.
  • Walk to the Laurel Street Trailhead of the Lackawanna River Heritage Trail where you will have the opportunity to:
    • Support the Archbald Historical Society with the purchase of hotdogs, bottled water, and snacks.
    • Take a guided Nature Walk with local naturalist, Jane Frye.
    • Enjoy a Fly Fishing Demonstration with volunteers from Trout Unlimited.
    • Take a 45 minute guided bike ride on the LRHT with volunteer Ken Leibold. Bikes will be provided from the Lackawanna Heritage Valley BikeShare Program.

Please note—this is not considered a handicapped accessible train due to the stop in Archbald.  Visitors are encouraged to wear comfortable walking shoes.


Explorer Yoga on the Trail @ Blakely Borough Recreation Complex

Stretch, breathe and hike at Explorer Yoga on the Trail on Saturday, August 11, at Blakely Borough Recreation Complex in Peckville. Registration opens at 8:30 a.m. with the program starting at 9 a.m.
Hilary Steinberg, owner and instructor of Jaya Yoga, in Clarks Summit, will lead a combined session of yoga and hiking along the trail. The program is open to people age 12 and older, and yogis of all skill levels are welcome to Explorer Yoga on the Trail!
Pre-registration is required by August 9. Yoga mats will be provided to all pre-registered participants. Email to register.
Blakely Borough Recreational Complex is located at the intersection of Keystone Avenue and River Street in Peckville. Explorer Yoga participants should enter on the Keystone Avenue side of the park. For directions, click here.
